Traditional field service solutions have remained restricted to the service aspect while remaining distant to other departments and functional areas, hindering information sharing and decision making. To that end, field service engineers yearn for a solution that delivers real-time and comprehensive information; a solution that integrates functions such as stock control, warehousing, procurement, manufacturing, CRM, BI, and financials, without the overhead of additional processing requirements. However, the market has solutions that provide only partial integration with other business systems, and that too at a high cost. With a deep understanding of the inherent challenges of the field services industry, over a decade ago Exel Computer Systems plc developed Eagle Field Service, a solution that is based on its flagship ERP system, EFACS, a fully integrated business solution tailored to manufacturing businesses. With Eagle Field Service, Exel integrates traditionally standalone functions into a single solution to automate business processes, communications, and integrate a myriad of systems and devices seamlessly.

“We bring our 34 years of experience and expertise in the form of a single solution—built on reliable infrastructure— that assists clients in a myriad of ways,” says Rue Dilhe, Managing Director, Exel. A unified view of customer records and mobile data allows field service teams to plan their maintenance visits better.
The solution has features such as assisted engineer scheduling and back office management that allow real-time information delivery to the mobile devices of the field service professionals.

The rich functionality packed into the solution can be used to improve sales, procurement, and even financials. Integrated with document management and management reporting capabilities, the solution allows companies to improve their business execution, operational efficiency, and productivity, leading to improved customer experience. Eagle Field Service comprises a configuration toolkit that allows clients to customise the solution and the data flow to meet their evolving business needs. The solution has found massive adoption in many industries, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, engineering, and food and beverage.

Prior to the implementation of Eagle Field Service, Exel Implementation Consultants analyse the clients’ infrastructure, software solutions, business approach, understand their requirements, and take a phased approach to solution implementation. In the past three decades, Exel has successfully carried out more than 900 implementations in 20 different countries. “We ensure our clients have the necessary knowledge to build new functionalities all by themselves,” says Dilhe.

To illustrate the capabilities of the company and Eagle Field Service better, Dilhe shares an example of Exel’s recent collaboration with Safetell, a trusted partner of several government agencies as well as large security industry corporations. After almost 30 years since its inception, Safetell, the UK-based safety security solution provider realised that its standalone manufacturing and service solutions, which had turned obsolete, would have to be replaced with an integrated solution to remain competitive. The management realised the ideal solution was a holistic ERP solution that enhances the field service abilities of Safetell as well as offering a wide range of benefits, which include improved reporting, greater system stability and an improved order-to-cash cycle, complete visibility of information across the organisation and efficient utilisation of field service engineers. The organisation’s pursuit for an ideal vendor ended at the doors of Exel, known for delivering holistic business solutions to small, medium and large size companies. The result of the collaboration was a game-changing solution that completely mitigated Safetell’s ERP and FSM challenges.

Exel’s talented resource pool strives towards continuous improvement of its existing software and firmly adheres to a five-year development plan to enhance the capabilities of its product significantly.
